Blog Post #15 - Settings

For my film I will need multiple good settings to create a unsettling atmosphere in just 2 minutes. Following typical horror story patterns, I will need a normal/ familiar environment, and slowly turn it off-putting

My first setting (above) will be the home gym portion of my patio, this is a familiar setting that is not associated with fear, this will be where some of the party guests may sit(on the bench). Also for some of the kills in the film I plan on using some of the weightlifting equipment as props.

My second setting is the main part of my patio (above) where the majority of the party will be set, this is also a familiar, comfortable setting, made even more comfortable through the safety of friends.

This is another look at my patio (above) , showing off how it can be made unsettling through the darkness surrounding it, strange figures could faintly be seen in the faint distance. This creates a sense of fear because you are surrounded by light, and you can only see a small area, but everything around and outside can see the light shining in the darkness.

My third setting is the woods (above). This setting is often associated with fear and will be the most unsettling setting in my film.
